French X 03:00
sometimes the course can draw a perfect circle he turned around and retraced his steps to recover the coin he dropped he closed his eyes and tried to think in a straight line the balancing act of a one-armed man who sees a shimmer in the distance the eyes peeked around the corner the worms sprawled out on the floor the dynamite exploded the wall's not there anymore who are we and what is this? you be the wave and i'll be the cliff swallowed by the sea from a certain angle you see things in their true form the coin was just a bottle cap and the cold july becomes a rite of spring he saw a shimmer in the distance the rising morning sun balancing between the clouds and him he took the long way home the eyes watched from the table lamp the worms pulled out the plug the painting on the wall's been sold the night weighs a ton the dynamite exploded we sprawled out on the floor the waves crashed against the door

you're at the tip of my tongue i'm talking to the past but i know you like a matter of fact i found it irrational how rational you are painting still lives of dirt won't get you far i found it irrational the people that we are you're not the same and i love you if we could get away just keep ourselves away and stop looking for the right words to say we could find out what it means to swim in a real sea of imaginary things i found it irrational the people that we are you're not the same and i love you

when you sleep there's no you and them it's only in your head how about you? what about me? you know this place ain't what it used to be... ...when you were young you could walk on your own feet but now you can't fit in your own skin your friends will let you down but only crashes break your bones how about you? what about me? you know this place ain't what it used to be

Dark Days 02:20
i don't have a choice when it comes to bring me down i won't be seeing you around is it warm in there? because it's not where i've been sleeping thinking of the things you've been keeping in and i don't know you anymore i just know who you once were staring at the sidewalk counting cracks and hitting walls i'm forced to face the fall and winter's forced on me the snow melts away what new life does it bring? and i don't know you anymore i just know who you once were

a contortionist of sorts she's bending over backwards to make one happy she hopes she gets hers too he hung up the phone he didn't know what else to do who do you blame when no one is at fault but everyone is wrong? the sky burns a color she's never seen before she needs some time to think it over she'll let you know in a day or two or you'll find out from a friend a contortionist of sorts testing unspeakable limits contorting blood and bones with a weak grip on your hand the evening rolls in like a silent film where everyone just goes their own way (who do you blame?) contorting blood and bones (everything is wrong) with a weak grip on your hand (the sky burns a different color) they go their own way contorting blood and bones (you'll find out from a friend) with a week grip on your hand (the evening rolls in) like a silent movie you have no words to say

about

These songs were recorded in the summer of 2013 during the just under three month period I spent in Madison between year-long stints in Vienna. I had spent the years leading up to (and after) the recording constantly moving between Wisconsin, Germany and Austria. This is the first EP and you can download it for free and donate if you wish.
